He felt the hard pavement underneath him while a creeping, burning pain began to overtake the sudden numbing shock in his body.

Calm realizations flickered to light in his mind that he'd been hexed, knocked briefly unconscious, and he had no idea where his attacker was.

His wand was still in his back pocket, the point of it poking into his ribs so he rolled and squirmed, reaching for it with a quivering hand and gasping for breath.

"Expecto Patronum," he wheezed, hoping the little dog would find Harry while he remembered the two of them laughing in the rain.
