That's an interesting observation about it being sad. I was trying to portray them as being a bit out of sorts with each other and working out those little living together details. Even people who really care about each or have been together for a long time get so used to being alone during a separation that it can take some adjustment to reconnect. I didn't mean for it to be sad so much as just awkward? But then with the hope of knowing things will be all sunny and nice when he gets to stay home for a while.
